July 21, 2010 Weds.

The lesson started with preparing for our flight home including several different situations at the airport.

During lunchtime Katrin’s husband Peter was repairing Rose’s sewing machine. It was a challenge for him, because it was her mother’s sewing machine approximately 60 years old.
Then Katrin and her family left us definitely.
After lunch we got ready to go shopping in Manchester, but it wasn’t the highlight of this day…
Rose showed us the mansion from Abraham Lincoln’s son Robert. It was such an impressive, but at the same time a modest building with a beautiful quiet garden and with a breathtaking view of the valley. What a treasure this place!

On our way home we were listening attentively about a tradition. We saw a house full of yellow ribbons and that means: a soldier was coming home, happy family.

Later on our way, Rose showed us her mother’s house, but unfortunately it wasn’t possible to go there because of a thunderstorm. It was following us for a long distance. It was dangerous to drive, because many trees were lying across the road.
In the end we arrived safely at home in a good mood and with many different impressions.

Each excursion accompanied by Rose was informative, meaningful, exciting and even funny.
A big Thank-You for Rose!
Lydia
